The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum in 1569-70, and was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad, chosen by her. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, and is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India. KNMA initiatives - KNMA with Archeological survey of India at Bhuj held a workshop on Pithora paintings, a highly ritualistic painting done on the walls by the Rathwa and Bhilala tribes who live in central Gujarat.
